What is Rapha House?
Stephanie Freed founded Rapha House after visiting Cambodia in 2002. While there she saw first hand the great need for a safe house for girls who had been rescued out of sexual slavery. Her vision became reality, and today girls living at Rapha House are given special counseling, Spiritual support, and an education. Because of training they receive the girls are given a chance at a future in which they are able to provide for themselves without having to sell their bodies.
Does Rapha House rescue the girls?
No. Rapha House is an aftercare program. Girls are brought to us by other organizations which specialize in working with local law enforcement to rescue girls out of brothels, karaoke bars, and other dangerous locations.
How long do girls live at Rapha House?
Every case is different. Often times it is not safe for a girl to return home, and so Rapha House becomes her new home. Girls are not kicked out of Rapha House at a particular age.
Are the girls there by choice?
Yes. The girls are in no way forced to stay at Rapha House. There have been cases in which a girl has chosen to leave, only to return later because she found that Rapha House was the only place where she was safe and able receive an education.
What does the program at Rapha House offer?
The main highlights of our program include vocational training in areas such as cosmetology, social work, computer science, and textile design. The girls are able to learn English, as well as learning to read and write in their native language. In addition to an education, the girls are able to receive counseling from a staff who has been specially trained to work with victims of abuse. But most importantly, Rapha House provides a place where the girls receive Spiritual nurturing and are able to learn about the love and redemption offered to them through Jesus Christ.
